Sara Lilley Phelps’s Expertise As Marketing Director a the Eastern 4-H Center, I have the opportunity to work with clients, donors and community leaders daily. My responsibilities include client relations and reservations, fundraising, working with community and regional partners to market Eastern North Carolina. The Eastern 4-H Center open in May 2001 as a waterfront retreat center and 4-H summer camp, owned and operated by North Carolina State University. From event planning to serving on several chamber and tourism committees, I enjoy the opportunity to serve my community, region and state. I am also a current graduate student at East Carolina University, pursuing master degrees in sustainable tourism and business administration. This experience has broaden my reach by working with new contacts, working to make our rural communities in Eastern North Carolina more sustainable. I hope that my graduate studies will increase the awareness of sustainability in the region and open communication between communities to work together to achieve the triple bottom line.
